Laser Skin Resurfacing Using the UltraPulse™ Encore by Lumenis

For all of our laser skin resurfacing procedures, we use the UltraPulse™ Encore. With a computer pattern generator to cover all size-specific treatment areas, the UltraPulse™ Encore uses the lowest possible energy in quick pulses in order to protect the skin as it is applied. Dr. Lensink believes this C02 laser to be the state-of-the-art choice for skin rejuvenation procedures, and has elected to use either the UltraPulse™ Encore or its predecessor, the UltraPulse™ 5000, since the mid-1990s. With over two decades of experience informing his knowledge and expertise, he has found it to be a versatile device, often using it to complement and enhance other procedures such as upper and lower eyelid surgery, and face and neck lifts.

Three Modes of Laser Skin Resurfacing: ActiveFX®, DeepFX® and TotalFX®

The UltraPulse™ Encore uses three methods of laser skin resurfacing including the ActiveFX®, DeepFX®, and TotalFX® (which is a combination of the previous two). If you’re relatively young and have healthy skin that simply needs a refresher, you may be better suited for superficial resurfacing. ActiveFX® only penetrates as deep as one millimeter from the surface, addressing the most superficial or mild signs of aging, sun damage, and fine lines, while toning the skin and removing the top layer of these tissues to revitalize your appearance. The DeepFX® method goes as deep as four millimeters, and is used to smooth severe scars over time. If you’d like a combination of the two, the TotalFX® treatment will help you to tone and tighten the skin down to the lowest point where muscle contraction and collagen restructuring is most affected.
