Latisse

We know you want to look your best, and for many, that starts with the “frames” around the focal points of your face – your eyelashes. Maybe you are experiencing thinning and breakage of your lashes as you age, or perhaps you’ve always had short or thin lashes. For Dr. Lensink’s patients that are tired of spending time and money on mascaras and extensions, there’s a solution to help you achieve longer, thicker eyelashes right from home – Latisse.

Latisse Prescribing Information

Causes of thinning eyelashes include:

  • Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids and lash line)
  • Protein breakdown with age
  • Improper or careless makeup removal that irritates and pulls at lashes
  • Poor diet
  • A medical condition, such as hyperthyroidism

How do I use Latisse?

You can apply the Latisse serum to the base of the upper eyelashes, using a brush attached to the top of the bottle just before you go to sleep each night. Many patients wonder why Dr. Lensink stresses the application of only the upper eyelashes, and that’s because when you apply the serum to the upper lashes, some of the serum will transfer naturally to the lower lash line.

As you apply this serum to your upper eyelashes, you may notice a darkening under your eyes, but it’s not usually an issue and can be treated alongside the application. Dr. Lensink will go over this application process with you and discuss any side effects that you may discover as you use Latisse.

How does Latisse improve lash growth?

This lash serum was developed, like many medical advancements, as a byproduct of another treatment. Patients suffering from glaucoma used a special treatment containing bimatoprost, which helped increase the growth of lashes in anaphase (the growth phase). Our patients love this product because it’s the only one that is both FDA-approved and clinically proven to increase thickness and length in your lashes. Another bonus is the natural curl many of our patients experience as a result of Latisse applications, so you may not need to use a lash curler or double up on mascara.

When will I see results after applying Latisse?

As your lashes lengthen over the recommended application period of four months, they will also thicken, and the number of lashes in active growth increases significantly. It will be roughly two to four months before you see these results, and you’ll need to be consistent with a nightly application; it is not recommended to skip a day during this vital time. However, after the 16-week application and growth period, you only need to use the Latisse serum a couple of times a week to maintain growth. Dr. Lensink will let you know how to use this product based on your lashes.
